HRS-PART TIME/15-25 a week

PAY- $20 per HOUR



I am looking for someone who is authentic, sharp, organized as all hell, with a great eye for design and self-confidant enough to both ask questions and give direction. Our team is a small crew (4 people + 1 muppet dog) and I am looking for someone to take over many roles that only I and Voula have been doing  for the past several years- so finding the right fit on an energetic and communicative level is essential.  

Alchemilla  wholesales to over 50  independent boutiques in the US (and yes we are on a first name basis with each and every one of them!) , in addition to selling online and at several craft and trade shows throughout the year. It takes a lot of multi-tasking, dedication, great communication and excellent resourcing to keep this company going and I will need someone I can really trust and rely on. Ultimately I am looking for someone who is interested & committed to helping grow this business with a loving and fierce spirit.



-basic bookkeeping (quickbooks online) and expense tracking

-accounts payable: manage invoices and track payments for all wholesale and retail orders

-create and implement tools and processes to increase efficiency

-maintain a well-organized office space, filing system, and computer files and folders

-work with production staff to communicate  calendar goals, deadlines and inventory



-strong customer service skills

- regular email & phone communication with wholesale and retail customers

- update and manage all aspects of Etsy and web shops (Squarespace)

-organize packaging/tagging of all jewelry, including making & printing labels

-organize inventory

-manage/track all repairs and exchanges



-order fulfillment (pack & ship) both wholesale and retail orders

-USPS drop-offs



-website maintenance (we currently use a Squarespace template)

-create newsletters for wholesale and retail customers

-creating, managing and maintenance of blog content

-social media content and management

-creating simple marketing images - *banners, advertisements, memes

-photographing and styling instagram pics

-photo editing and graphic design for lookbook and marketing material



-reordering & resourcing supplies from over 30 different vendors

-knowledge of metal, stones, jewelry and tools

-errands to local vendors for supplies

-tracking and reordering office supplies, packaging & marketing items




-loading and unloading booth display (requires lifting)

-organizing and cleaning studio

-Be awesome



Candidates must have these skills and background!

  1. Photoshop, Quickbooks, email

  2. Basic photography skills

  3. Basic office software (OpenOffice or similar text documents, spreadsheets, etc)

  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write friendly, clear, and concise emails to our wholesale partners, retail customers, and vendors

  5. Ability to think ahead and foresee what is needed

  6. Excellent multi-tasking organizational skills

  7. Ability to work independently

  8. Interest and understanding of jewelry design, interest & knowledge in current jewelry and fashion trends that fit the Alchemilla aesthetic

The ideal candidate will also have experience with:

  1. Google Drive, Docs, and Spreadsheets

  2. Squarespace, Shipstation, Etsy, Tumblr, MailChimp, Dropbox, other design software

  3. Knowledge of basic small biz practices and regulations

  4. Design skills for print and web

*Currently the position is part-time (15-20 hours per week). This could  change as the business grows and as specific projects get worked on. Hours always expand (often double) during the holiday season and there is always a break in January and February.

*The hourly rate will be determined according to experience $20 per hour.

*Alchemilla is located in Oakland, CA with most work being done in my studio, while some could be done from your home.

What began in 2012 as a vision to legitimize my free lancing and pay the bills with some of my creative projects, has blossomed 6 years later into a thriving and successful jewelry business! After four years I brought on the incredibly talented Voula to help manage the company and sadly she is moving to the East coast. I am looking for a STELLAR manager to replace her in what is a growing, busy and fun woman and queer run business!

Alchemilla is the small craft business of artist Jen Lorang (thats me!). I am a self taught jeweler and mostly self taught artist. Alchemilla focuses primarily on jewelry as well as a small line of silkscreen prints, calendars and books. We use vintage, deadstock and reclaimed materials to create a unique line of limited run creations that evoke magic, beauty and resilience in the wearer.   Alchemilla is against appropriation, colonialism, and exotification. We are against hetero-normatively and beauty standards that are racist and shame bodies. We believe both in the end of capitalism and the truth that artists are essential to society and should be supported to live as artists- unfortunately under the current system that leaves artists with few options. I have chosen jewelry as a way to support myself and others in my community but Alchemilla is more than that. We care about systemic change. We care about decolonization.
